My sister, Kaija (sounds like Hi-ya) was crowned as the "2010 Strawberry Festival Queen" in Marysville. The theme for this year's festival was "Summertime Fun". The candidates and their escorts (the girls had to choose someone) performed an opening dance routine to the Beach Boys' song Fun, Fun, Fun. There was also a talent portion, and a Question and Answer section. For Kaija's talent she performed an Italian aria (she's got some major vocal skills!!), and for the Q & A, she explained that she wanted to conduct a mentorship program for elementary school kids. wow...nice blog, and good job on highlighting the night from clear over on the east side of the state. So, are you going to make a special effort to come to the Marysville parade? It's held in the evening with fireworks afterwards.
Yes, of course!!! If I remember reading right, the parade (or fesitval) is the 3rd week in June, which is our summer. It should work out perfectly.
